Shell Environmental Products Carbon Credits Transcript
[Background music plays]
Plucked acoustic guitar music.
[Narrator]
As the world seeks to limit the effects of climate change, a dramatic shift is underway towards net zero carbon emissions.
[Animated Graphics]
A spinning globe with green land and white sea appears on a white background. It shrinks and appears surrounded by a thin layer of mercury in the bulb of a thermometer, marked from 1 to 4°C, in which the mercury level rises to 4 then falls to just above 1. A thick red border expands anticlockwise around the globe and thermometer, which both fade and disappear as the red border completes a full circle and, zooming out, is revealed as the letter O in the word “Zero”.

Net Zero Carbon Emissions
[Narrator]
To achieve this, every effort is needed to avoid and reduce emissions
[Animated Graphics]
The text shrinks towards the lower right of the screen as a dotted line emerges from the left side of the O in “Zero”, travelling backwards through the other letters and off the left of the screen. Graphics of buildings appear along the top of the line: suburban houses, followed by commercial/industrial and taller buildings, then skyscrapers. A motorbike is travelling along the dotted line, out of the cityscape, followed by heavy traffic of cars, trucks, lorries and cyclists. Animated wind turbines appear on some rooves in the background and a plane emerges above. A vertical dotted line extends upwards on the far left of the screen, forming y- and x-axes with the horizontal line and turning the cityscape into the contents of a graph. A red line extends over the top of the buildings, tracing a sort of bell curve. Red text appears to the right of the red line as the “Net Zero Carbon Emissions” text on the right of the screen fades and disappears.

Avoid & Reduce
[Narrator]
And where emissions still remain, they may be compensated through restoring natural ecosystems, preventing deforestation, or other environmental projects that are independently verified to capture or reduce carbon emissions.
[Animated Graphics]
The graphic zooms in towards the suburban end of the cityscape where the traffic fades to white near the end of the buildings. A grey area emerges on the underside of the x-axis, expanding to the right, away from the city above to the left. Graphics of trees, solar panels and wind turbines appear in the far left of the grey area as red text appears to the left.
[Text displays]
Compensate
[Animated Graphics]
Small animated clouds with “CO2” written inside appear at the end of the bell curve and float into the trees then disappear. The word “Compensate” slides off screen to the left and graphic of a green authorisation stamp appears in its place, containing the words “Independently Verified” and a tick.
[Audio]
Sound of a document being stamped.
[Narrator]
and generate carbon credits that are retired to prove that an amount of carbon emissions have been compensated.
[Animated Graphics]
The graphic zooms out again as animated spinning green cubes with “CO2 Credit” written on every side emerge one at time from the trees. They stop spinning and glide to the left in a line before turning red and falling off the screen as they approach the word “Compensate” which is visible once more.
[Narrator]
In this way, Shell Environmental Products can help your business reduce its carbon footprint with voluntary carbon credits from our extensive portfolio of high-quality projects around the world.
[Animated Graphics]
The whole graphic slides down, disappearing at the bottom of the screen, revealing a map of the world in green on the same white background. Polaroid graphics appear over Central and northern South America, West and East Africa, and the Far East, displaying photos of a jungle river, lush green jungle vegetation, a barren savannah, a herd of elephants, a bush baby, and an orangutan respectively.
[Narrator]
And shell also provides a range of energy products combined with voluntary carbon credits to compensate for the products’ emissions.
[Animated Graphics]
The graphic zooms in rapidly towards the mid-Atlantic and a white screen. A series of graphics each appear briefly in the centre of the screen before sliding upwards to reveal the next, as if on the dial of a meter: All in yellow, a car at a petrol pump with a light green droplet of liquid on the front of the pump and a darker green handle/nozzle; five lorries in blue, red, yellow, green and brown, the yellow twice the size of the others; a blue fuel can with a droplet logo on the side, half of which is white. As the fuel can slides upwards to reveal a green oil tanker, a grey circle emerges around it whilst the graphic zooms out to reveal that these motifs, which are now on rotation, are occurring within one half, the heavier, of an old fashioned balance scales. On the other side is one of the green CO2 Credit cubes from earlier, which balances the scales.
[Narrator]
In addition, all of our projects have wider benefits, such as improving the livelihoods of local communities and promoting biodiversity, which support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
[Animated Graphics]
On top of the scales is a sort of global village scene is shown with rotating ground showing a moving school bus, school building, various small buildings and houses, rotating wind turbines and trees spread across the land. The graphic then pans across from day to night showing more houses, a hospital and an ambulance. Moving further to the right, the trees quickly become a forest as birds fly in from the left, monkeys in branches, deer and a long-beaked bird appear, all in different coloured silhouettes.
[Audio]
Jungle birdsong.
[Animated Graphics]
A clearing in the trees reveals a circular emblem with a blue spikey rim surrounding a ring of multicoloured blocks, which surrounds some text where the letter O is divided into multicoloured sections.

[Narrator]
And with our unparalleled due diligence and expertise, you can have confidence that projects achieve what they claim.
[Animated Graphics]
The graphic zooms into the text, which fades to white. A grey line emerges from the left, quickly followed by a yellow parallel line above. The yellow line curves upwards and the grey stays straight before stopping. Text fades in between two thin black lines above.

Due diligence and expertise
[Animated Graphics]
The yellow line briefly traces a slightly less acute angle before stopping and a badge motif appears at its end with a green tick inside.
[Narrator]
For example, the Katingan Mentaya project in Indonesia prevents forest clearance, protecting vital habitats for 5 critically endangered species and directly employing 400 local people, while generating an average of 7.5 million verified credits annually; which is the same as taking 2 million cars off the roads each year.
[Animated Graphics]
The yellow line continues towards the right and pauses under a photo of a vast jungle stretching to the horizon with text displayed beneath.

[Animated Graphics]
A red circle with a gecko walking around the edge emerges between the monkey and bird, and a white number 5 appears on it. A frog drifts in from the right. Grey text appears above, partially between thin black lines, and to the right of the red circle.

Employs over 400 local people.
[Animated Graphics]
Simplified figure motifs appear in rows, alternatingly male and female, to the right of the circle. At the end of the last row is a large red plus sign. The yellow line continues and the screen moves on to another red circle with text in and below.
[Text displays]
7.5 million verified credits annually
[Animated Graphics]
Seven spinning green ‘CO2 Credit’ cubes appear to the right of the red circle. The yellow line travels upwards at a 45 degree angle, then down at an equivalent angle with another red circle appearing at the apex and text emerging within and below.
[Text displays]
2 million cars each year.
[Animated Graphics]
A line of different-coloured cars emerge from the red circle, down the yellow line in its direction of travel. The cars fade and disappear and the yellow line ends behind one of the spinning green cubes, which enlarges centre-screen.
[Narrator]
Through voluntary carbon credits, Shell Environmental Products can help your business meet its sustainability commitments and help the world transition towards net zero carbon emissions.
